Your first thoughts may be that the man behind the camera is only there to check you out, and that you would much prefer a female photographer for such an intimate situation. He has found the perfect career, where he gets to look at lots and lots of naked ladies and even gets paid for the privilege :-)
However it is pretty clear when a photographer is not acting professionally, regardless of whether they are male or female.
By looking at the online portfolio of the photographer, and reading through some of the available testimonials, you can quickly determine whether you are dealing with a professional or a pervert before you even make first contact.
Don't be so judgemental
Another thing worth noting is the fact that many women project their own insecurities onto the person that they have in front of them and suggest poses that hide or highlight features that they feel should be more or less prominent.
On the other hand, there are very few men that worry about whether their bums look big in the jeans they are wearing, or whether their cellulite is showing.
Whilst a professional female photographer with lots of experience will have learned to overcome this, and will not project onto their clients, with a male photographer, this issue does not even arise.
So, how do you pick a good boudoir photographer?
When it comes down to it, if your photographer is professional and inspires confidence, then you should not really worry about whether they are male or female... they might even be gay, or you might be - it really shouldn’t matter. Meet the person, get a feel for the energy that flows between you and then decide whether they are going to be the person that gets to make you feel great about yourself.
At the end of the day, your boudoir photo shoot should be something that you really enjoy, and that gives you a big confidence boost. Pick the photographer that you know is going to ensure you have a great experience, and creates the intimate portraits that become one of your most cherished possessions.
